Tom Gerritse
Tom started studying optics in Zwolle in 2009 because he wanted to help people see better. His passion for this developed further during his optometry studies at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, and after gaining experience in both optics and ophthalmology in the Netherlands and Germany, he has been working as a freelance optometrist since 2019.
He works several optic stores in different regions, so can help people with eye problems not just from one fixed workplace, but from several stores in the center, east, and south of the Netherlands.
This also gives him the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at different company's and learn from employers and colleagues in the optical industry. He takes the knowledge he gains there back to his clients in order to make an impact in the places where he works and with the people he works with.
Why does he do his work? His greatest passion is helping people, providing insight into (eye) health, and giving customers personal and understandable explanations. By working in a people-oriented way and not just focusing on the eye or the complaint, he strives to make a positive impact on the customer's situation.
