Madina Kaamil-Sayedi

Madina Kaamil graduated as an orthoptist from the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht in 2009 and completed her master’s degree in Evidence Based Practice at the University of Amsterdam in 2015. She gained extensive clinical experience in several Dutch hospitals, including Franciscus Gasthuis Rotterdam, Alrijne Hospital, the Rotterdam Eye Hospital, and Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis, and also worked for two years as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
She presented at the International Orthoptic Association (IOA) in Rotterdam in 2016 on myopia and interventions such as atropine and contact lenses, and in 2025 delivered a well-received presentation on AI and strabismus at the ESA in Istanbul.
Madina is actively involved in the Brillenbus project, which provides free eye care to children in underserved schools and includes ongoing scientific research. She also recently started working as an orthoptist within several optical practices to make eye care more accessible to local communities. Additionally, she shares accessible, reliable eye-care information on social media and has been interviewed on television three times.
