Jan-Willem de Koning

Jan-Willem de Koning brings over 30 years of experience in ophthalmic clinical training, product development, and surgical diagnostics. At Alcon since 2006, he specializes in cataract and refractive surgery technologies, including post-refractive IOL calculations and topo- and wavefront-guided laser treatments.
As Senior Clinical Trainer, he prepares Clinical Application Specialists who support surgeons across Europe and has developed structured training programs for LenSx, ORA, PanOptix, and Verion. Previously, as Regional Clinical Associate Director, he led a team of nine CASs across four European regions.
Before Alcon, Jan-Willem worked at Lens/MicroLens in clinical practice and product development, fitting complex medical lenses and contributing to lens and diagnostic innovations. His career began at Boertie Optiek, forming the foundation of his long-standing commitment to excellence in eye care.
