Rachel Redfern
My career in vision science began over 20 years ago when I completed an OD/PhD studying how systemic and ocular surface inflammation can impact the eye. Specifically, my research focuses on the role of toll-like receptors on ocular surface health using cell culture in vitro studies, animal models, and human subjects. Additional studies in my laboratory investigate the impact of soft and scleral contact lenses on the ocular surface, Meibomian gland structural changes in disease and various species, and the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects of maggot secretions on the ocular surface.
