Marco van Beusekom

Marco van Beusekom graduated from the Christiaan Huygensschool in 1985 after which he continued his study in contact lens fitting. He finished his optometry training in 2002 at the University of Utrecht – applied sciences (optometry department). From the early ’90 he specialized in contact lens fitting, with a preference in elective contact lens applications mainly, but he also did a lot of work in the medical application of contact lenses during his work in several hospitals in the Netherlands.
Since 2011 he started to work as profession Educational & Development managers within Johnson & Johnson Vision, being responsible for the Benelux markets. Over the past 20 years he’s been lecturing about applications for contact lenses, practice management and opportunities for contact lenses on all major international conferences. Next to this he wrote several articles on various contact lens related topics.
He’s a regular invited international speaker and has presented at several national and international conferences like BCLA, GSLS and the NCC conferences. He has lectured on topics regarding new developments; softlens fitting, orthokeratology, fitting young children in contact lenses and solution interaction.
Marco van Beusekom is a special member of the Dutch Ophthalmology Association (NOG), board member and founder of the NCC conference, in which he acts as scientific director (2005-2018). In 2008 he received an honorary membership of the Dutch Contact Lens Association – ANVC for his dedication to the promotion and application of contact lenses. In 2017 he was rewarded the Jan Kok medal for his contribution on contact lens promotion and CL education in general, by the Jan Kok foundation.
