Rob Wouters
In 1992 I graduated as a physician at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Before specializing in ophthalmology, I worked for a year as a physician assistant in Neurology at the St. Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam. Then I started a research project at the Rotterdam Eye Hospital as a physician researcher. The research included eye movements in people with Graves' disease and eyelid movements in people with drooping eyelids; ptosis. While specializing in ophthalmology, I continued the research. After some very interesting publications, this led to a doctorate in medicine on November 28, 2001. My dissertation is entitled: Saccades of the eye and eyelid; clinical applications.
Because I always like to absorb information, in addition to my work as an ophthalmologist, I started a new study at the TIASNIMBAS institute in Tilburg. On March 12, 2008, I successfully completed this study and obtained the title Master of Health Administration (MHA).
Then, in addition to my work as an ophthalmologist, I focused my attention on establishing a specialized ophthalmological center. Oogcentrum Noordholland has since grown into a regional ophthalmic expertise center in North Holland.
